Constuction Material pricing App
Situation:
Following the successful implementation of dropdown filters for product family, model, NRC, and CAC in the Construction Material Pricing App (CMPA) the next evolution of the project was to incorporate state-based pricing. This addition was crucial to accommodate the geographical variations in pricing due to factors such as transportation costs, local regulations, and supply chain dynamics.
Action
- State-Based Pricing Integration: The Power Apps interface was expanded to include state-based pricing options. This allowed sellers to set and buyers to view prices specific to their state, ensuring that the displayed prices were accurate and relevant to the user’s location.
- Dynamic State Selection for Pricing: A dropdown menu for state selection was added to the app’s interface, enabling users to filter construction materials based on their state. This feature was critical for providing localized pricing information and improving the purchasing experience.
- Database Customization for State-Based Pricing: SharePoint lists were further customized to store prices for each construction material across different states. This required an enhancement of the database structure to associate each product with multiple prices, each tagged to a specific state.
- Automated Workflows for State-Specific Pricing: Power Automate workflows were adapted to handle the complexity of state-based pricing. These workflows facilitated the dynamic presentation of prices based on the user’s state selection, ensuring that the pricing information was updated and accurate.
- Testing of State-Based Pricing Features: Rigorous testing was conducted to validate the functionality of the state-based pricing mechanism. This included verifying that the app correctly displayed prices according to the selected state and ensuring the seamless operation of the new filtering capabilities.
Results:
The integration of state-based pricing into the CMPA app marked a significant milestone in its development. Users could now access pricing information that was not only tailored to the specific construction material but also adjusted according to their geographical location.
